Detailed description

Victoria 14 is a variety developed at Hacienda Sonora in Costa Rica. It is known for its juicy fruit character, notes of chocolate, and delicate spice. The coffee cherries are hand-picked and then naturally processed to preserve their high quality and distinctive flavour profile.

In the cup, it surprises with a fresh yellow-fruit profile reminiscent of yellow kiwi, complemented by the pronounced sweetness of sultanas and a pleasant citric acidity of gooseberry.

Hacienda Sonora has been in Alberto’s family for more than a century. When Alberto took over the farm in the 1970s, he began planting coffee across much of the land, gradually transforming the farm into the family’s main source of livelihood.

In 1999, during a period of historically low coffee prices, Alberto decided to invest in his own processing mill. This allowed the family to take full control over both the processing methods and the final quality of their coffee. The decision also positioned Hacienda Sonora among the pioneers of alternative processing methods in Costa Rica, particularly Honey and Natural processes, demonstrating how significantly different coffee varieties can influence the character and complexity of the final cup.

For each coffee , we choose a roasting profile according to the individual parameters of each lot , so as to bring out the unique flavor profile of each product, taking into account altitude, processing method, acidity and sweetness.
